CAST, INC. d.b.a. CAST children’s theatre
2020 UPDATED PROGRAM INFORMATION SHEET
CAST continues to monitor all recommendations set forth by the CDC, the State of Connecticut and the Town of Manchester with regard to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This Information Sheet is subject to modification based on changes in governing guidelines and recommendations.
In-Person Group Activity Ratios:
The State of Connecticut is currently allowing groups to assemble, with 1 person per 150 square feet indoors, per the guidelines for Indoor Recreation and Arts and Entertainment. Inside, in-person class sizes will be limited accordingly.
Class Size Groupings and Spacing for In Person Programming:
Class size will include CAST staff. Classes will not be interacting with other groups at transition time and classes will be scheduled to keep the groups separated. The CAST class schedule will be modified as needed to allow for maximum group distancing. In order to comply with distancing guidelines, students will be assigned designated “spaces” during class and are to follow staff instructions to remain in their “space” when not actually performing. All personal belongings will remain in each student’s designated space. There will be no snacks or water provided by CAST, students are to bring their own water bottle to class.
There will be deep cleaning and sanitizing of the facility throughout the day, following all recommended guidelines. This includes frequent cleaning of the bathrooms, wiping down handles and frequently touched areas. Directional markings will be placed on the floors to facilitate entering and exiting the facility. A sick room will be designated in the event a student is not feeling well, and immediate pick up will be required. The CAST office area will be restricted to the public, and will only be available by appointment. There will be no indoor waiting area.
Masks/Face Coverings and Social Distancing:
As recommended by the CDC, all CAST students and staff will be required to wear masks or face coverings throughout the day. Face shields will be utilized for singing when required, and will be provided by CAST. Masks must be worn during drop off procedures and until the student returns to their car at the end of programming. Students will be required to observe social distancing guidelines, and follow instructions and directions provided by CAST staff to maintain social distancing strategies.
Drop Off Procedures:
Upon arriving at CAST, all cars will park in the designated drop-off area and students will remain in the car. Masks must be worn by all occupants of the vehicle during drop off procedures. A CAST staff member will come to the car, administer the temperature check, and ask the questions on the health questionnaire. The student can enter the building once these steps are complete. All entrance will be through the front ramp. Students driving their own cars will park in a designated area, put on their mask and will not exit their car until a staff member conducts their temperature check and daily health screening. All students will wash their hands or use hand sanitizer upon entering CAST for the day.
Health screenings will take place upon arrival for all students and staff. The screening will include a temperature check and a few basic questions. The questionnaires will be maintained by CAST in a notebook, confidentially protected, with a health check sheet for each participating student. Anyone displaying a temperature above 100 degrees or other symptoms will not be allowed to participate in scheduled CAST programming and will be sent home. Students or staff who show symptoms and/or an elevated temperature will need to wait at least 48 hours without symptoms before returning to CAST.
Pick Up Procedure:
Students will be dismissed individually in adherence to distancing policies. Parents will remain in their cars and a CAST staff member will escort the students out. Exit will be through the same door they entered. Families are expected to arrive on time to expedite dismissal.
CAST staff members will undergo a daily health screening and temperature check upon starting their work day. All staff will wear masks or face coverings in public spaces, and other personal protective equipment as deemed appropriate. Distancing guidelines will be followed and administered by CAST staff during the program day.
