Song Interpretation focuses on acting through song. Learn how to find clues provided in the music and lyrics of a song to interpret material as well as acting techniques and methods for turning that interpretation into an authentic, meaningful and vital performance.
*Each participant will need to prepare a
short cut (32 bars) of song.
Led by CAST alum Ellery Sandhu,
Ellery Sandhu has over 20 years of experience in the entertainment business. After a professional performing career, she transitioned to the other side of the table and has been working in the business of representation for over a decade. She is currently a Senior Talent Agent at Avalon Artist Group, a top bi-coastal (NY/LA) boutique talent agency representing actors in Theater, Television, and Film. Ellery and her team at Avalon have developed a top notch roster of clients that can be seen on Broadway, National and International tours, in major regional theaters and Off Broadway stages. Recent shows her clients have worked in include: Hamilton, Hadestown, Wicked, Mean Girls, Miss Saigon, Frozen, Book of Mormon, Come From Away, Beautiful, Waitress, The Ferryman, Be More Chill, Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, Les Miserable, Once on this Island, School of Rock, The Band’s Visit, and Aladdin. In addition, they’ve also appeared as guest stars and series regulars on episodic television including Law & Order: SVU, The Blacklist, Blue Bloods, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Bull, Chicago Fire, New Amsterdam, FBI, God Friended Me, Succession, Emergence, Carol’s Second Act, as well as the upcoming West Side Story film. While she tirelessly advocates for her clients currently treading the boards, Ellery also continues to further her pursuit of educating the next generation of artists as a mentor and frequent guest lecturer at many of the top college BFA programs.
Two siblings launch rival good news networks and find themselves competing for the title of happiest news show. Soon, their correspondents are in a whirlwind of ecstatic musical reporting – from joyful weather forecasts, to cheerful cooking segments and blissful political updates! But, when vulnerability starts peeking through the euphoric facade, they’re left wondering: is there room for raw honesty on a super happy broadcast?
