CAST Summer 2021 Frequently Asked Questions
Please note: Due to the ever-changing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and recommendations from the State, any and all policies are subject to change.
When does registration open?
Registration is open now on a first come basis.
Where will the program be located this summer?
Our summer programs will be located on the grounds of MARC, Inc. on Sheldon Road in Manchester. We will be in an outdoor open air space. In case of inclement weather we will be in an inside open area. Day to day logistical information will be provided closer to the summer to those who are registered.
What are the ages that can participate?
*added on 5/25 - NEW! program for 5-7 year olds!
What is the length of your program day?
9:00 am – 3:00 pm. Each session runs for 9 days with performances at the end. We expect children to be practicing when not at CAST as well.
*Our 5-7 year old program will run for 6 days from 9:00 am - noon. Information on how performance day will work will be sent as we get closer.
Will you be offering before and after care?
Yes. For an additional fee, we will have before care from 8:00 am - 9:00 am and after care from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm.
*Our 5-7 year old program currently only has before care available from 8:00 am - 9:00 am.
How many sessions will there be?
There will be three sessions:
July 6-16, 2021 - "Annie, Jr."
July 20-30, 2021 - "Shrek, Jr."
August 2-13, 2021 - "The Little Mermaid, Jr."
Week one runs Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri and week two runs Monday - Friday.
*Our 5-7 year old program will also have three sessions:
July 7-16, 2021 - "Cover your sneeze, please"
July 21-30, 2021 - "Bugz"
August 4-13, 2021 - "Friends & Family"
Both weeks run Wednesday - Friday.
What is the cost?
$299.00 per session.
Our 5-7 year old program is $150.00 per session.
Are there scholarships?
Yes. We have limited scholarships available. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Are payment plans available?
Yes. We will work with you to set-up a plan that works. There is a $125.00 per person per session deposit due at time of registration. Balance information will be sent out separately. There will also be an option to pay in full when you register. If you are looking for payment plan information; there is a section on the form to check off or please contact the CAST office for more information at .
Our 5-7 year old program has a deposit fee of $75.00 due at registration.
Is there a limit on how many children can participate?
Yes. Current CAST guidelines limit group sizes to 20-25 children.
Our 5-7 year old program will have a maximum of 12 children per session.
The production I wanted to place my child in is full. Is there a waiting list?
Yes. You can be placed on a waiting list. If someone drops out, we will contact people on the waiting list in the order they added in to join our program. There are no guarantees.
Will there be auditions?
Yes. After you register and your fees are paid we will send out audition information to everyone enrolled with instructions on how to audition. There will be a specific deadline that auditions must be submitted by. Our directors will review audition submissions and assign parts. Once parts are assigned, we will let everyone know to arrange times for you to pick-up scripts and CDs so students may begin to practice and when their session starts, we can jump right in.
*Our 5-7 year old program will not have auditions. We will assign parts on the first day.
If I am planning to participate in more than one session, do I need to submit multiple auditions?
No. You only need to submit one audition, which will be used for however many sessions you are enrolling for.
Will my child get a part?
Yes. Everyone who signs up receives a part somewhere in the show. In a few cases, some students may be cast in dual roles.
Will there be performances for the productions this summer?
Yes. There will be 2 performances on the last day of each session (Fridays, July 16, 30 and August 13). Performances will be outside on the grounds of MARC, Inc. Ticketing and additional general information about performances will come closer to the summer. We will have a plan for inclement weather, as we get closer to the summer.
*Our 5-7 year old program will be the opening acts for the other CAST productions. Performances for this group will also be July 16, 30 and August 13; depending on which session(s) you are registered for.
Will you be providing daily snacks?
No. We encourage you to pack snacks for your children.
Will you be providing lunch?
No. Every participant should bring his or her own lunch. We will have a daily lunch break and children will be able to spread out to be able to take their masks off while eating.
Will you be providing water?
We encourage everyone to bring a water bottle with him or her each day. We will have extra bottled water available as well.
Will there be bathrooms?
Yes. We will have access to bathroom facilities.
How will supervision be for the summer sessions?
At minimum, we will have a 1:5 ratio of staff to children.
Will masks be required?**
Yes. As of now, during rehearsals everyone will be required to wear masks. We will plan scheduled mask breaks throughout the day. An update for performances in regards to masks will be issued closer to production dates to those families registered.
What are the expected responsibilities of participants to help prevent the spread of COVID-19?**
It has been shown that schools have not been a significant source of spread of the virus. We believe that youth programming will be similar. We ask that anyone who chooses to be part of our program do whatever they can to keep everyone in our CAST community safe. This means following the current state guidelines. This means following any state guidelines including but not limited to travel, group gatherings and known exposures. If your child(ren) has experienced any of the above listed examples during the program or in the week before our programs start, or ask that you contact our office so we can determine if your child can participate in the program.
What is your refund policy?
If you would like to withdraw/change your enrollment in one of our sessions, you must contact us no less than 2 weeks prior to your start date in order to receive a partial refund minus a $100.00 non-refundable fee. After that time, there will not be any refunds. Changes to program enrollment are dependent on space and availability.
Should the health department or other municipality direct us to quarantine at any given time, we will switch our programming to a virtual model and contact families if we need to make any schedule adjustments.
We are sorry, but we cannot offer refunds or credits to families instructed or choosing to quarantine due to household exposure/suspected exposure (i.e., siblings in other youth programs or camps, contact with friends/neighbors outside of CAST, parent exposed at work, etc.) or if a household member tests positive, thereby necessitating that their child(ren) remain in quarantine.
Lost time (including illness or vacation) cannot be made up in other sessions.
*Our 5-7 year old program has the same policy as above with the exception, there is a $50.00 non-refundable fee. If any of the sessions do not run, we will issue a full refund. Full refunds are only issued if CAST cancels the program.
What are some of the precautions you will be using to prevent the spread of COVID-19? **
We are closely following the state guidelines regarding COVID-19. These include things such as masks, social distancing, being outside, as well as frequent cleaning. We continue to update our protocols as more guidelines become available. When you register, there will be a basic registration form and those registered will receive updated guidelines and registration forms specific to COVID protocols that must be completed and submitted to the CAST office prior to the start of any session.
What if I need to pick up my child during the program day?
We understand that there may be times that you need to leave early or take care of a doctor's appointment. We ask that you notify us in advance of any absences or need to pick up your child(ren) during the program day. We do request if you are planning on going away this summer, please try to schedule around the session you are signing up for. Our program is 9 days and if children miss more than two days they will be lost as we will be covering a lot of the blocking and choreography each day.
*Our 5-7 year old program is only 6 days long. Please plan vacations around these dates so children do not miss anything.
